Two officers fired by NLV Police
Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001 | 10:39 a.m.
Two North Las Vegas Police officers were fired Wednesday after internal investigations ruled the officers engaged in unprofessional conduct in separate incidents.
"Internal investigations were started in reference to misconduct," Lt. Art Redcay, a department spokesman, said. "The investigations sustained unprofessional conduct in both cases, and they were terminated."
Officer Ray England, 34, was fired after he was accused of domestic violence in an incident in Metro Police jurisdiction in October. Earlier this year England was charged with driving under the influence. Redcay would not reveal what punishment was leveled against England for the DUI.
Officer Gina Carmody, 27, had been on administrative leave with pay since Aug. 23 before being fired Wednesday. Redcay would not reveal the circumstances behind the finding of unprofessional behavior.
England, an officer for about four years, had been on administrative leave with pay since Oct. 16.
Both officers can appeal the firings.
