Jet blows two tires; no one injured
Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001 | 11:27 a.m.
An inbound Alaska Airlines MD-80 blew two tires upon landing this morning at McCarran International Airport, but no injuries were reported, airport officials said.
The incident occurred as Flight 100, which originated in Portland, Ore., landed shortly after 9 a.m. Passengers aboard the flight deplaned on the tarmac and boarded eight buses that shuttled them to the main terminal.
"We don't know what caused the blown tires at this point," McCarran spokeswoman Hilarie Grey said.
It is unknown how many passengers were on the plane. The aircraft remained on the runway waiting to be towed at least an hour after the incident.
