RTC plans new look for system

Some Citizens Area Transit buses will be sporting new paint jobs.

The Regional Transportation Commission said Monday that new buses it buys will be colored blue and gold. The current CAT buses will mostly keep the old teal-and-magenta paint scheme.

"By making gradual changes to the system's appearance, we will achieve a cost effective makeover," RTC General Manager Jacob Snow said. "Phasing in the changes will also help us keep the system running as smoothly and efficiently as possible."

The new paint will be on all paratransit, standard 40-foot and 60-foot articulated buses. The new design was to be formally unveiled during today's RTC meeting at the County Government Center, 600 S. Grand Central Parkway.

Classes to be held for volunteers

Community Action Against Rape is in need of volunteers for the hot line, speakers' bureau and court monitor programs.

The next Volunteer Crisis Intervention Counselor training will begin Feb. 1. The 50-hour, monthlong class will prepare volunteers to help victims of sexual violence during crisis and afterward.

All applicants will be interviewed and screened prior to acceptance. Interviews will be conducted Monday until Jan. 26. For more information call 385-2153.
