Andy Abraham

Andy Abraham, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born March 21, 1925, in New Kensington, Pa. A resident for 27 years, he was a World War II Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Joan L.; two sons, Michael Abraham of Las Vegas and Mark Abraham of Roseburg, Ore.; two daughters, Vicki Bayer of Las Vegas and Linda Verdini of Arnold, Pa.; one sister, Lillian Bongiavonni of Lower Borough, Pa.; and three grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 4 p.m. services Tuesday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Paradise Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests donations to Odyssey Health Care, 4011 McLeod Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89121; South Valley Christian Center, 3085 Raven Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89139, or the donor's favorite charity.

George T. Bartek

George T. Bartek, 76, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born Sept. 3, 1924, in Newton Falls, Ohio. A resident for four years, he was a retired aircraft sales engineer, a World War II Army Air Corps B-17 bomber pilot with the 100th Bomb Group, who was awarded an Air Metal with five oak leaf clusters and three battle stars in the European Theater and was valedictorian at Newton Falls High School.

He is survived by his wife, Diane; two sons, Jim Bartek of Seattle and Steve Bartek of Los Angeles; one daughter, Karen Bartek of Malibu, Calif.; one brother, Raymond Bartek of Warren, Ohio; two sisters, Mildred Reider of Newton Falls and Betty Ann Bopp of Nevada City, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 1 p.m. services Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Paul Bidegain

Paul Bidegain, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born July 4, 1923, in New York. A resident for 11 years, he was a retired laborer in the construction industry.

He is survived by his wife, Felicita; one daughter, Patricia Verella-Figueroa, and one son, Paul Bidegain Jr., both of New York state; and four grandchildren.

Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Avalon June Carpenter

Avalon June Carpenter, 71, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born June 14, 1929, in Rice Lake, Wis. A resident for 39 years, she was a receptionist at Tomatoes Hair Salon and a retired bank clerk.

She is survived by four daughters, Terry Lee Mosher of Stover, Mo., Adeline Steinkamp of Arnold, Mo., Nancy Carpenter of Joliet, Ill., and Laura Willmott of Las Vegas; one son, Stephen Carpenter of Ohio; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Tuesday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Entombment will be in Eden Vale Mausoleum.

Thelma A. Egner

Thelma A. Egner, 74, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 18, 1926, in Lone Tree, Iowa. A resident for three years, she was a department store customer service representative.

She is survived by two sons, Steven H. Egner of Rochester, Minn., and Charles Egner of Fairfield, Iowa; three daughters, Annette Anthony of Bristow, Iowa, Barbara Egner of Fairfield and Wendy Chapman of Duluth, Minn.; two brothers, Carl Fagerlind of Raymond, Iowa, and Dale Fagerlind of Rochester; three sisters, Ruth Klaus and Edna Mae Fagerlind, both of Las Vegas, and Virginia Holbach of Waterloo, Iowa; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Olive Lutheran Church, 3975 S. Sandhill Road. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Jean H. Embree

Jean H. Embree, 86, of Las Vegas died Jan. 1 in a local hospice. She was born Jan. 9, 1914, in New Boston, Mich. A resident for 38 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, David L. Embree of Las Vegas.

A memorial service date is pending. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Earladine Elaine Fleury

Earladine Elaine Fleury, 78, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local care center. She was born April 11, 1922, in Green Bay, Wis. A resident for nine years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Robert A.; four sons, Ron Fleury of Encino, Calif., Jim Fleury of Laguna Hills, Calif., Bob Fleury of Mission Viejo, Calif., and Tim Fleury of Layton, Utah; two daughters, Kathy Monson and Patti Robertson, and one sister, Dorothy Anderson, all of Las Vegas; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive. Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave., is handling arrangements.

Donald L. Johnson

Donald L. Johnson, 71, of Pahrump died Friday in a local hospice. He was born March 28, 1929, in Omaha, Neb. A resident of Las Vegas for 30 years and most recently a resident of Pahrump for four years, he was a retired gaming floorman, former owner of Slide Rite of Clark County, a World War II and Korean War Navy veteran, a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Cooties 10054, a member of Elks 2796 and Redrock Moose Lodge 252.

He is survived by his wife, Joann; three daughters, Vonnie Johnson, Cindy Webster and Jolene Sells, all of Las Vegas; two brothers, Walter Johnson of Marion, Ala., and Kenneth Johnson of Omaha; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Veterans of Foreign Wars 10054 in Pahrump. Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Kumiko M. Kodama

Kumiko M. Kodama, 69, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born March 9, 1931, in Japan. A resident for nine years, she was a retired owner-operator of a tailoring business.

She is survived by her husband, Bob; two sons, David Kodama and Daniel Kodama, both of Honolulu; one sister, Sadako, and two brothers, Teruyuki and Yasuyuki, all of Japan; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Lucille L. Nelson

Lucille L. Nelson, 84, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 11, 1916, in Pierce County, Neb. A resident for 24 years, she was a retired state government executive secretary.

She is survived by one daughter, Christine Essex, and one son, Dana L. Nave, both of Las Vegas; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Dr. Charles Dwight Prater

Dr. Charles Dwight Prater, 84, of Philadelphia died Monday in Philadelphia. He was born Jan. 2, 1917, in Gant's Quarry, Ala. A former Las Vegas resident for 16 years, he was a retired process and research head at Mobil Oil Co., taught engineering at UNLV, was a former partner in a consulting-research company in Las Vegas and a member of the National Academy of Engineers.

He is survived by three daughters, Anne Marie Breeze and Linda Lee Runyon, both of Phoenix, and Susan Lynn Knight of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

George R. Schmitt

George R. Schmitt, 77, of Boulder City died Thursday in Boulder City. He was born Sept. 13, 1923, in Cleveland. A resident for 10 years, he was an architectural designer and a World War II Navy veteran.

He is survived by his companion, Jackie Lipoma of Boulder City; one daughter, Susan Schmitt of Henderson; one brother, Paul Schmitt of Bodfish, Calif.; and one grandchild.

A memorial service will be 9 a.m. Friday in St. Jude's Ranch for Children, 100 St. Jude, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling arrangements.

Rose Steward

Rose Steward, 68, of Boulder City died Saturday in Henderson. She was born May 6, 1932, in San Diego. A resident for two years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Merrel; one son, Gordon Weaver of Reno; one daughter, Sylvia Mikkelson of Boulder City; two brothers, Robert Howard of Indio, Calif., and Harold Howard of Los Angeles; one sister, Marie Bellar of Paradise, Calif.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jewel Tacker-Clark

Jewel Tacker-Clark, 97, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 26, 1903, in Swift, Tenn. A resident for 55 years, she was a retired hotel chief telephone operator.

She is survived by one daughter, Rea Hassell of Las Vegas; four sons, Jack Tacker of Las Vegas, Harold Tacker of Woodland, Calif., Joe Tacker of Monterey, Calif., and Jay Clark of Oregon; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled noon until 2 p.m. services Wednesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow in Palm Memorial Park.
