Letter: Unruly students are district’s No. 1 problem
Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001 | 2:59 a.m.
Ask any parent, student, teacher or school administrator the No. 1 problem in our district's schools and chances are they will answer school discipline.
Students and teachers routinely experience those individuals who choose to act in a manner that is habitually disruptive to the classroom environment or endangers the safety of students or school personnel during the instructional day.
For a variety of reasons, the number of these inappropriately behaving individuals has grown to the point where time for many other students has been seriously compromised.
This presents many new problems for the schools, not to mention the use of school district personnel and resources to deal with these issues. People and resources that could be focusing their attention on those children that behave and come to school to learn.
Perhaps now is the time for our school district to address this important issue, so that our children may attend safe, friendly, nondisruptive schools.
