Certificates planned for graduates
The Consumer Credit Counseling Service and Nevada Fair Housing Center are offering free home-buyer seminars to be held at 3650 S. Decatur Blvd. on these days:
5:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesday and Jan. 16 for the Spanish version; 5:30-9:30 p.m. Jan. 11 and 18; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 27; and 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Jan. 30.
A certificate of education will be awarded to those attending all sessions. Advance registration required. Call 364-0344 to register.
Citizens academy accepting applications
The North Las Vegas Police Department is accepting applications for the 16th session of its citizens academy.
The academy is designed to provide citizens with a working knowledge of the police department, and topics include criminal law, officer safety, building searches and narcotics.
The classes run for 13 consecutive Wednesdays beginning on March 13, and each session will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Applicants must be 18 years old or older, and those interested can contact Shane Andrews at 633-1741.
Salvation Army services
Bill and Gwen Luttrell, leaders of the Canada and Bermuda Territory of the Salvation Army, will be special guests at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services on Sunday at the Las Vegas Corps, 2900 Palomino Lane. For more information, call 870-4430.
