Letter: Gore somehow managed to lose

The Democrats nominated Al Gore because he couldn't lose: A booming economy and basically worldwide peace meant he could win in a walk.
The Republicans nominated George W. Bush because he couldn't win. He had all the above conditions going against him and the GOP didn't want to offer up someone else to the slaughter.
Then Al Gore managed to screw up the whole deal, and George Bush didn't.
