Updated Jan. 3, 2000

LAKE MEAD: Striped bass fishing has been slow while rainbow trout are being caught in the Boulder Basin following the Nevada Division of Wildlife's weekly plants.

Boaters and shore anglers who were fishing for stripers after last Friday's trout plants reported they had poor luck. In prior weeks boaters were able to catch stripers by casting and trolling O'Henry and A.C. plugs.

A small number of stripers were caught over the New Year's weekend in Las Vegas Bay. Boaters who were fishing with shad managed to catch fish that weighed 1-3 pounds.

NDOW is scheduled to plant trout Friday at Horsepower Cove, Hemenway Harbor, B-5 Cove and Government Wash.

LAKE MOHAVE: Very few anglers have been on the water during the past week and those who have are having relatively poor luck for largemouth and striped bass.

There have been reports of anglers having some success for stripers last week following NDOW's trout plant at Cottonwood Cove. No largemouth bass were checked last week by NDOW creel clerks.

Rainbow trout fishing was slow following last week's plant at Willow Beach as the fish quickly moved into deep water. The next plant is scheduled for Friday.

EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR: Over the weekend anglers who were fishing through the ice on the upper end of the lake had poor results for rainbow trout. Some open water is found at the boat ramp and fishing has been slow there as well.

ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR: The lake is covered with a thin layer of ice and is not yet safe for ice fishing.

WAYNE E. KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA: Some open water is found on the area, but is not accessible to anglers. Ice conditions are not considered to be safe for ice fishing.
