Vanderhoof named military adviser to governor

Monday, Jan. 1, 2001 | 10:20 a.m.

Vanderhoof will lead the guard after Maj. Gen. Drennan Anthony Clark steps down Jan. 21 to take over as the state's solicitor general. Clark has been adjutant general since 1986.

Vanderhoof, a 1959 graduate of Sparks High School, has served as assistant adjutant general since 1997. He served as chief of staff of the Nevada Air National Guard before that.

"General Vanderhoof has served the state of Nevada and the United States with great leadership and distinction for the past 40 years," Gov. Kenny Guinn said in announcing the appointment.

"I look forward to working with him as he accepts this important assignment."

The adjutant general commands more than 3,000 members of the Nevada Air and Army National Guard.

As adjutant general, Vanderhoof also will be responsible for missions of the Nevada National Guard and will be director of the Nevada Office of the Military.
