No new cases of meningitis since outbreak

"They are all out of the hospital and doing great," said Chris Spencer, infection control practitioner with the Tahoe Forest Hospital District.
All three students were successfully treated because their parents were quick to recognize the seriousness of their symptoms, she said.
The meningitis outbreak prompted health officials to immediately give an antibiotic pill to all the students' classmates.
Health officials are still unsure how the disease was spread.
While the scare is over, Spencer is encouraging parents to discuss with their children the dangers of sharing saliva-tainted items such as drinks, Chapstick and cigarettes.
