Union calls off Boulder Station organizing effort

Operating Engineers Local 501 has backed away from its organizing effort at Boulder Station.
On Feb. 12, the union filed a petition with the National Labor Relations Board to represent 25 engineers at the Station Casinos Inc. property. A hearing on the matter, the first step in scheduling an election, was set for March 26. The union currently does not represent any Station Casinos workers.
However, the union withdrew this petition Feb. 22, said Mike Chavez, agent in charge of the NLRB Las Vegas office.
"They indicated they didn't want to proceed further at this time," Chavez said.
Union representatives couldn't be reached for comment.
