Letter: Stop kissing up to Japanese

Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 | 9:13 a.m.

There has been quite a bit written recently regarding the submarine accident in Hawaii.

Your paper had a front-page picture of a Tokyo rally showing a sign reading, "HATE! U.S.A. FORCE!" There was also a quote in the same Feb. 22 edition by Chief Cabinet Secretary Yasuo Fukada, who said, "We take it as a grave matter and must take measures on our own."

Apparently the Japanese government doesn't understand what an accident is. They are demanding strict disciplinary steps on the U.S. side.

How long did it take for the sanctimonious Japanese government to apologize or even admit to the following wanton acts:

Isn't it about time we, the U.S.A., quit kissing up to the Japanese government? We did win the war and are not beholden to them for anything.
