Happy anniversary to Nieman Marcus at the Fashion Show mall. This month marks 20 years of Nieman Marcus in Las Vegas. During those years the store has become a valued member of our community. Its generosity and support of local causes and charities are too numerous to count.
Many changes have taken place in the store during the past years, but none have been so bold as the remodeling currently under way. NM has expanded into a number of adjacent stores -- contemporary sportswear, the NM swim shop, accessories and children's world have moved to these adjacent locations.
A third floor is being added and, at long last, customers will be able to dine at two restaurants.
Somehow, throughout the main floor redo, customers have barely been inconvenienced -- thanks to NM Vice President and General Manager Terri Monsour and a neat crew of sales associates.
Throughout the renovation NM will continue to host special events. Personal appearances by renowned designers will continue. Alas, the epicure department will be no more, but the candy department will continue to tempt us with its wonderful selection of chocolates and other scrumptious goodies.
Remember, personal shoppers are always available to those who would prefer to shop via phone. Call 731-3636.
More ways to indulge at Four Seasons: The Four Seasons hotel has just completed "a lavish expansion of our Health Club and Spa," as reads an invitation to the hotel's re-opening. Now triple the original size, "we've maintained the intimacy and added exotic new treatments." There are 16 new treatment rooms.
Previously for Four Seasons guests only, the Four Seasons Health Club and Spa will be available to locals on weekdays.
Annual Kreiss parking lot sale: Kreiss Collection furniture, posh fabrics, luxury bed linens and imported accessories will be on sale Friday and Saturday at the store's parking lot, 4708 W. Sahara Ave.
I've been a fan of the Kreiss Collection for many years, having shopped the California and the Las Vegas stores. Come early for the parking lot sale. It's a main event with huge appeal for those who know what tremendous buys are always available. Founding family member Bob Kreiss will be on hand to greet customers. A new Kreiss Collection is created each year. Sale items are from the 2000 collection. Collection 2001 is already here. Love this sale!
Forever Walgreen!: There is no end to the Walgreen pill-price saga. Complaints continue to arrive, and today I received an e-mail from Walgreen's corporate office that was clearly intended for a reader. This story keeps getting curiouser and curiouser. How many ways are there for a chain to disappoint its customers? More than any innocent consumer can imagine.
Forever Wards: Wards continues to plague my life. All of the proper notices have been sent to Monogram Bank, the credit-card issuer. No response. They're probably swamped with mail from irate card-holders. Just received my second bill from Wards for the merchandise not received.
What's next? Only time will tell.
