Millennium Scholarship sessions start today

Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 | 10:23 a.m.

Students can learn more about the Millennium Scholarship program at information sessions hosted by the Community College of Southern Nevada.

Information meetings will be 6:30 to 8 p.m. today in the Horn Theatre at the Cheyenne Campus, 3200 East Cheyenne Ave., and on Wednesday in the Student Services Lobby at the Charleston campus, 6375 W. Charleston Blvd.

Nevada's Millenium Scholarship program director Susan Moore will explain eligibility requirements, application procedures and other details.

The program provides up to $10,000 for tuition at Nevada colleges and universities for students who graduate with a 3.0 grade point average, pass the proficiency exam and meet other requirements.

The Clark County Public Education Foundation is offering 29 scholarships for high school seniors. Clark County students planning to attend college or other accredited post-secondary programs are eligible to apply.

The deadline for applications is March 6.

Many of the scholarships are awarded based on academic or athletic proficiency, students who have had to overcome personal challenges, specific trade groups and certain college majors.

Recipients will be selected based on the requirements listed on each of the 29 scholarships available. All applications are available in high school guidance offices or online through the foundation website at ccpef.org.
