Letter: Regulators surely not AG’s clients
Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001 | 9:07 a.m.
Jeff German, in his Feb. 18 column "Del Papa not one to cross," reports that Gaming Control Board Chairman Bill Bible and other regulators were "her very own clients."
Generally, at least in other states, attorneys general do not have "clients." Clients are generally what private-practice attorneys have.
Is German really suggesting a line of thought that certain regulators view the attorney general as their own private-practice attorney and themselves as her clients? Such a line would truly be "not one to cross," at least for a public-serving public servant.
