Desert Breeze holds re-opening
Desert Breeze Park will hold a grand re-opening 5 p.m. Thursday to celebrate new park improvements.
The total cost for the project at 8425 Spring Mountain Road was $1.5 million. Visitors will enjoy better security lighting, the building of an interior roadway, development of a new tot lot and improvements to the basketball courts.
Dog owners are encouraged to bring their canine friends for the Desert Breeze Park Dog Run. Other activities include music, refreshments and games for dogs and children. Call (702) 455-8264.
Class scheduled at Paradise Park
A backpacking skills class is being offered 5-8:30 pm. Wednesday at the Paradise Park Community Recreation Center, 4770 S. Harrison Drive.
Learn everything you will need to know to safely hike in the backcountry, including how to select equipment; plan and prepare foods; basic survival skills; topographical map reading; and first aid.
The fee for the three-hour class is $20.
Employers visit UNLV students
UNLV will host Career Day 2001 for students, alumni, and other members of the public 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. Wednesday.
