Summerlin has been ranked the best selling master-planned community in the United States for the fourth straight year by an independent real estate advisory firm.
The community in Las Vegas, developed by the Rouse Co.'s Howard Hughes Corp., had nearly 1,000 more sales in 2000 than its nearest rival, Irvine Ranch of Orange County, Calif.
It maintained its No. 1 ranking by Robert Charles Lesser & Co., despite a drop in sales from 1999. The Chevy Chase, Md.-based real estate firm said Summerlin reported 3,173 sales in 2000, a 1.9 percent decrease from the 3,233 reported in 1999.
One other Las Vegas-area master-planned community made the Lesser list of the top 15. Anthem Las Vegas, developed by Del Webb Corp., Phoenix, reported 1,446 sales in 2000, a 51.6 percent increase over 954 reported in 1999, placing it sixth on the list.
