Television show featuring Ralston debuts in March
Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 | 11:20 a.m.
"Face to Face with Jon Ralston," a new daily television show produced by the Las Vegas Sun, debuts on Las Vegas ONE, Cox cable channels 1 and 39, on Monday, March 19, at 4:30 p.m.
"Face to Face with Jon Ralston" will be a 30-minute public affairs show featuring in-depth interviews with community leaders, public officials and residents on the most important issues and people in the news in Las Vegas and Nevada. It will be highly current and topical.
The show will air at 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, with repeats at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. and on weekends. It will rely as needed on the reporting resources of the Las Vegas Sun, and Sun reporters will appear on the show.
Ralston, an award-winning journalist for nearly two decades and a longtime Las Vegas newspaper columnist, is the publisher of The Ralston Report, a biweekly statewide political newsletter that is widely read and highly respected by political and business leaders throughout Nevada.
He also authors the Monday-Friday insider e-mail publication "Flash," writes a column for the Sun twice a week, and provides commentary for Las Vegas ONE and for KLAS-TV Channel 8. He recently published "The Anointed One," a book about the last Nevada governor's race.
Ralston's enterprises are owned by the Greenspun Media Group. The Greenspun family of Las Vegas has owned the Sun since its founding in 1950. The Sun, in partnership with KLAS and Cox Communications, owns Las Vegas ONE.
"Jon has no equal as a political reporter in Nevada," said Michael J. Kelley, managing editor of the Sun.
"He is far and away the most knowledgeable reporter on politics and public issues in the state. He has incredible sources. He knows everything, and almost always knows it first. And in his past television work he has proved himself to be the toughest and at the same time the most engaging interviewer in Las Vegas.
" 'Face to Face with Jon Ralston' promises to be the most interesting television show in Las Vegas in years. Jon brings a tremendous amount of experience, understanding and sheer ability to the table, and he is the kind of person who will put it all out there every minute of every show every day."
Ralston has been hosting "The Ralston Report," a half-hour interview show every Friday on Las Vegas ONE. That show will end with the March 16 edition. "Face to Face with Jon Ralston" will fill the time slots on Las Vegas ONE formerly occupied by the Sun-produced show "Point of View Vegas," which ended Feb. 23.
"I am looking forward to doing every day on 'Face to Face with Jon Ralston' what I have been doing once a week on The Ralston Report -- asking the probing questions of guests that illuminate issues and get out the truth," Ralston said. "I can't wait for this show to start."
