Letter: Seniors demand fair treatment
Monday, Feb. 26, 2001 | 9:58 a.m.
I was very glad to see something written in the paper about the notch babies born between the years of 1917 and 1926. I'm also a notch baby. I attended the meeting at the old Showboat hotel-casino, now known as the Castaways. Hundreds of seniors attended. And there were many people speaking on the subject.
We, the notch babies, have been treated very unfairly just because we were born between the years of 1917 and 1926, and we receive less money from Social Security that is due us. Is this fair?
Mike O'Callaghan has backed us up, as has Harry Reid. What is more important than a senior citizen? We're the backbone of America and we're all somebody's parents or grandparents in our great country. We're not going away and we want what is rightly ours.
