Letter: Pitino won’t stay for long
Friday, Feb. 23, 2001 | 12:40 p.m.
I was hoping that during the search for a new basketball coach that UNLV would look for someone with more stability than Rick Pitino.
Yes, he won an NCAA Tournament at Kentucky -- one of seven the school has won. The argument that he came in and saved the program is a lot of bull. They had basketball at UK before he got there and they have done just fine since he left.
In closing, have you ever seen more books written about success by someone who quits a job in the middle of a contract? I believe if you go to the Boston library and look up the word "quitter," they have Pitino's picture pasted there.
