Joe Delaney remembers 1983: Manchester, Crystal shined in MGM Grand performances

Melissa Manchester, Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, made her Las Vegas debut at the Riviera as a headliner several years before a 1983 engagement at the MGM Grand (now Bally's). She has performed here recently at the Aladdin Theatre for the Performing Arts in an Andrew Lloyd Webber tribute, and does so annually during the Christmas season in "The Colors of Christmas," usually with Roberta Flack, Peabo Bryson and Bill Medley. Billy Crystal had co-starred in the comedy sitcom "Soap." He went on to success in the several films, including "When Harry Met Sally," and has confined his efforts to film and television since.
