UNR narrows search for chief

CARSON CITY -- Ten men and one woman -- all from out of state -- have been selected semi-finalists in the search for a new president of the University of Nevada, Reno.
A recommendation will be made April 19.
The semi-finalists are Joann A. Boughman, vice president of academic affairs and dean of the graduate school at the University of Maryland and the only woman on the list; Roger Bowen, president of the state University of New York at New Paltz; Loren Crabtree, provost and academic vice president at Colorado State University; and George Damback, vice president for research and dean of the graduate school at Wayne State University.
Others are Richard Davenport, provost and vice president for academic and student affairs at Central Michigan University; George Dennison, president of the University of Montana; Robert Dryden, vice chancellor in the Oregon university system for the Oregon College of Engineer and Computer Science and dean of engineering and applied science at Portland State University; Juan Franco, vice president for administration at New Mexico State University; Dan Johnson, provost at University of Alaska, Anchorage; John Lilley, provost and chief executive officer at Pennsylvania State University at Erie; and R. Michael Tanner, interim director of the Silicon Valley Center and former executive vice chancellor at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
