Office suites allowed at controversial site

Suites of professional offices will be built at Cheyenne Avenue and Campbell Road, the ultimate compromise of a 3-month-old zoning battle.
The Clark County Commission voted without dissent to allow the offices at the site. A commercial zoning application for 2.5 acres at the northeast corner of Cheyenne and Campbell was opposed by nearby residents and the city, but was approved Dec. 20.
The County Commission on Jan. 17 voted to reconsider the approval for the 30-foot-high shopping center. Commissioner Chip Maxfield supported the reconsideration and helped broker a deal to put professional offices on the site instead of a shopping center.
Residents who live nearby the site said the supported the revised rezoning.
