Membership tea on Saturday
The Henderson/Green Valley chapter of Soroptomist international -- a professional women's service organization -- will hold a membership tea 1-3 p.m. Saturday at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.
Soroptomist International provides support to both local and international charities that benefit women's and children's issues.

Fair will highlight recreation slate
The Las Vegas Department of Leisure Services is hosting its semi-annual Leisure Awareness Fair for the family 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday in the Sears Court on the lower level of the Meadows mall.
The Leisure Awareness Fair is an opportunity for new residents, as well as longtime residents to get information on the many activities and programs sponsored by the city of Las Vegas.
Numerous demonstrations and performances -- ranging from gymnastics and belly dancing to tai chi -- will be held.
Staff from the centers will be on hand to answer questions. For more information, call 229-6720.
Program on tap at water district
Las Vegas Valley Water District employees and community leaders are planning a day of activities to celebrate the achievements of black citizens 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday at the water district Administration Building, 1001 S. Valley View Blvd.
Programs will run every hour, including invited guest speakers, poetry recitals, music and a fashion show. For more information, call 258-7183.
State park needs more volunteers
Spring Mountain Ranch State Park is looking for people for the Volunteers in Parks program.
Immediately needed are people to man the entrance station to the park. Volunteers will greet visitors, provide information on the park and collect entrance fees. No experience needed.

Senior housing
will be the topic of a panel of speakers representing assisted living, skilled nursing facilities and rehabilitation programs at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Bridge Assisted Living, 2205 E. Harmon Ave. Call 369-6964.
