Letter: Impeach Clinton, then go after everyone else
Friday, Feb. 16, 2001 | 8:51 a.m.
Both houses of Congress are very busy investigating Bill Clinton. Arlen Specter wants a second impeachment, Dan Burton wants him in jail, and several other "hearings" are in session. They're all diversionary tactics, designed to obscure the tasks that should be central to this man who didn't win.
Meanwhile, the people's business is still on hold.
Specter should proceed, in all speed, for a second Clinton impeachment; establish precedent, record case law, opening a way to impeach Gerald Ford for his pardon of Richard Nixon and other Watergate criminals, impeach Bush the Elder for pardoning Caspar Weinberger and other Iran/Contra criminals and save his own skin as well. Then if Junior gave Poppy a pardon, we could impeach the shrub.
Moving right along, impeach the five Scalia-wags for their illegal interruption of a federal election. In Article 3, Section 1 of the Constitution, it states that justices "shall hold their offices during good behavior." Their behavior speaks volumes.
We could continue and petition the government for a "redress of grievances" pursuant to the extreme actions of the hard right in Congress ignoring the thousands of protests from Americans who gave "no consent of the governed" to do so.
Boy, oh, boy, go for it, senator, open this can of worms. Don't give any care to what you wish for. Put on your "court jester" suit and continue with the sideshow.
We'll tell you, loud and clear, when we're mad enough to send the lot of you packing!
