New development to be discussed
The Montecito Companies, a commercial real estate developer, will be holding a neighborhood meeting Thursday for northwest Las Vegas residents to explain the company's 38-acre Montecito East Lifestyle Center planned for the northwest Town Center.
The meeting is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. at the Cimarron Rose Track Break Center at the southwest corner of Ann and Cimarron roads.
The meeting will include a presentation by Montecito representatives followed by a question and answer period, allowing residents in the surrounding community to learn more about the project. Montecito is interested in the public's feedback. For more information, call Matthew Werner at 259-1277.
Students invited to participate
Students are invited to participate in an SAT math preparation workshop 9 a.m.-noon Saturday and Feb. 24 at the Whitney Ranch Recreation Center, 1575 Galleria Drive, Henderson.
Enrollment for the two-part workshop is $30 per student (ages 15-18). The workshop is sponsored by the Henderson Parks and Recreation Department.
The workshop is designed to prepare students for the math portion of the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Curriculum includes a complete review of all the mathematics students need to know in order to score well. In addition to the review, testing tactics and practice problems will be explored. SCORE to aid new businesses
The Las Vegas Chapter of SCORE will present its next "How to Really Start Your Own Business" workshop at 9 a.m. Thursday at the Foley Federal Building, 300 Las Vegas Blvd. South, Suite 1100.
Counselors from the Service Corps of Retired Executives will cover marketing, cash flow, the business plan and a check for licensing, permits and other requirements.
The $45 cost also includes a 292-page reference manual and a workbook to help analyze your business idea. Call 388-6104.
Program planned at state museum
A slide presentation is being offered 1 p.m. Saturday at the Nevada State Museum in Lorenzi Park. Hear about the desert tortoise and other creatures in each of these deserts.
This free program is being hosted by the Tortoise Group for the public. Information about adoption and care of desert tortoises will be available. For more information, call 739-8043.
