MGM MIRAGE most admired casino operator in survey

MGM MIRAGE is the most-admired casino operator in Fortune magazine's annual rankings, displacing last year's leader Harrah's Entertainment Inc.
Marriott International, which has no casinos, was ranked No. 1 for the second consecutive year in the hotels, casinos and resorts category in Fortune's annual list of the nation's most admired companies. The list is in Fortune's Feb. 19 issue.
No. 2 is MGM MIRAGE. It's followed by Hilton Hotels Corp., Park Place Entertainment Corp., Harrah's, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Crestline Capital, Mandalay Resort Group, Wyndham International and Trump Hotels & Casino Resorts.
Among all companies, General Electric is No. 1. Wal-Mart, Southwest Airlines and Home Depot, all of which have big and expanding Las Vegas operations, are ranked No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 respectively.
Among all 535 companies ranked, Trump again ranks near the bottom at No. 527. Also ranked low is No. 530 America West Holdings, a big airline operator in Las Vegas.
