Letter: Juipe is right: XFL stinks
Friday, Feb. 9, 2001 | 10:15 a.m.
I went to the XFL "game" on Saturday night in keeping with my tradition of attending every opening night of a professional team in Las Vegas since 1977. I was impressed by the size of the crowd and its collective ability to consume what had to be a record quantity of beer -- that's saying a lot for a Las Vegas crowd.
I really didn't understand what all the fuss was about, and until I read Dean Juipe's column ("XFL proves to be lousy experience," Feb. 5), I was starting to feel as if maybe I was watching another game, based on the rave reviews given on the local TV stations and by most of the fans who were there.
In my section alone at the top of the stadium I saw two fights, one guy (vomit) and a full section of drunks yelling "show us your (breasts)!"
And this was just in the first quarter.
Juipe's column hit the nail on the head.
