CARSON CITY -- The Nevada Supreme Court Wednesday denied the petition of Jeremy Strohmeyer, who wanted to withdraw his guilty plea to the 1997 killing of a 7-year-old girl in a restroom at a Primm casino.
Strohmeyer claimed his guilty plea to the murder charge was not voluntary and that his lawyers did not provide him competent representation.
In his appeal, Strohmeyer said he was not fully and accurately informed of his sentencing and appellate rights.
The court rejected that argument. It said the testimony of defense lawyers Leslie Abramson and Richard Wright showed Strohmeyer was fully and accurately informed.
It said District Judge Joseph Bonaventure found there was substantial evidence that the attorneys informed Strohmeyer of the sentencing possibilities and his right to appeal.
Strohmeyer pleaded guilty to raping and murdering 7-year-old Sherrice Iverson.
