Man faces trial in wife’s death

A Las Vegas man accused of shooting and stabbing his wife to death just before Christmas will face trial.
Justice of the Peace Ann Zimmerman ruled Wednesday there is enough evidence to try Vitaly Zakouto on murder, home invasion, burglary and stalking charges.
Zakouto is scheduled to be arraigned by District Judge Jeffrey Sobel Feb. 20.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Ed Kane believes that Zakouto, 52, killed Marina Cannon, 49, on Dec. 23 after breaking into her father's home.
Cannon had reportedly moved in with her father in the hopes that Zakouto, who had been stalking her, would not find her. She had taken out a temporary protection order to prevent him from contacting her, but he had repeatedly violated it.
