StumbleSoftball: UNLV wins two to open season

The UNLV softball team began its 2001 season in impressive fashion Tuesday, routing the Gaels of St. Mary's in a doubleheader at Rebel Diamond. UNLV won by scores of 8-1 and 13-3.
Rebel pitching, led by starters Geney Orris and Nicole Truax, dominated.
UNLV next plays at Phoenix in the Arizona State Fiesta Bowl Classic this weekend. UNLV will face UMass, Nebraska, Texas, Missouri and LSU. Next week the Rebels will host their annual softball classic at Desert Breeze Sports Complex on Feb. 16-18.
