The family of an 8-year-old Overton girl is seeking more than $5 million in punitive damages from Si Redd's Oasis hotel-casino in Mesquite, saying the girl was sexually assaulted because of its allegedly inadequate security.
In a Clark County District Court lawsuit, the plaintiffs sued the hotel-casino, alleging the girl was playing at the Family Fun Center Arcade at the Oasis last July when she was allegedly taken by Steven Dale Bingham, 53, St. George, Utah, and "forced to undress, was sexually assaulted and threatened with death."
Bingham, who allegedly was a patron of Si Redd's, was arrested and charged with first-degree kidnapping and two counts each of sexual assault with a minor under the age of 14 and lewdness with a minor under the age of 14. A trial is scheduled on Feb. 12.
Si Redd's officials could not be reached for comment about the lawsuit.
