Williams Cos. of Tulsa, Okla., said Friday it plans to build a 125-megawatt power plant fueled by natural gas near Las Vegas.
The plant will sell electricity for the Las Vegas market as well as provide power in regional markets, including power-starved California.
Williams said its Kern River Pipeline will provide the gas for the plant.
Williams joins several other companies in announcing plans for new Clark County-area power plants to serve fast-growing Southern Nevada and other western markets.
