9 UNLV football players honored

Nine UNLV football players were among those selected to the Mountain West Conference's 2000 All-Academic football squad that was released Thursday.
Senior offensive tackle John Greer, placekicker Dillon Pieffer, linebacker Bill Cofer, quarterback/long snapper Ryan Hansen, running back Joe Haro, center Joel Menendez, wide receiver Nate Rydalch, tight end Trevan Sorensen and defensive back Toby Smeltzer made the team.
To be eligible, players must complete at least one academic term with a grade point average of 3.0 or better and also be either a starter or significant contributer on the football team.
Wyoming led the MWC with 19 players on the team.
