Sit at home on the couch, or brave the chilly night air and surround yourself with hundreds of thousands of strangers wearing funny hats.

Hmmmm.

The annual Las Vegas New Year's Eve quandary rears its action-packed head once again.

If you opt for the latter, rest assured there will be no shortage of noisemakers, bubbly and fireworks to help in bidding 2001 adieu.

The Sun has compiled a list of New Year's Eve events and activities scheduled for Monday, to help the party animals among us (and those descending on the valley for the festivities) usher in 2002.

Some of the biggest names in show business will strut their stuff on local stages, and the casts of some area production shows will invite audiences to join them in ringing in the new year with midnight countdowns, champagne toasts and such.

Also there will be plenty of parties from wild bashes to classy dinner-dances Gato attend (so long as your bank account will allow for some of the hefty cover charges accompanying them). Fireworks
