Prominent Las Vegas attorney and former Rep. Jim Bilbray, D-Nev., collapsed during a court hearing this morning and was being tended to by medical personnel.
Bilbray was attending a hearing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in downtown Las Vegas when he collapsed shortly after 10 a.m. Bilbray appeared to be unconscious for a short time, but then appeared to regain consciousness.
Paramedics were treating Bilbray at the courthouse as the Las Vegas Sun went to press this morning, and further details on his condition were not available.
Court clerks said Bilbray, 63, was at the hearing representing a National Airlines creditor, Certified Airline Passenger Services, during a hearing on National's reorganization plan.
Bilbray, a Democrat, was elected to the House in 1986 and served four terms before being defeated by Republican John Ensign, now a U.S. Senator, in 1994.
