More than $3.5 million has been donated by Southern Nevadans to help victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks in Washington and New York City, the American Red Cross Southern Nevada Chapter said Thursday.
The local Red Cross said that in addition to local money going to the Liberty Disaster Fund of the national chapter of the American Red Cross, another $175,000 from Southern Nevadans was designated to help displaced Las Vegas workers.
The latest donation figures are from a Red Cross report that projects the agency will have spent $317.5 million by Monday to help more than 36,000 American families either directly affected by the terrorist attacks or by the economic slowdown that came in its wake.
