ATLANTIC CITY -- Miss America officials have voted to keep the pageant in this resort town for at least another year, a newspaper reported today.
The pageant's board of directors met Wednesday and decided to turn down offers to move the pageant next year to Las Vegas, Florida, or Connecticut, home of the Mohegan Sun Casino, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported Thursday on its Web site, citing sources. Pageant officials planned a 1 p.m. news conference Thursday to announce its decision.
"We're just thrilled that they've given us this year to figure out a way to keep this pageant here forever," Mark Juliano, chairman of the Atlantic City Convention and Visitors Authority, told the newspaper.
