NEVADA DIVISION OF WILDLIFE

Typical winter fishing is now being found as largemouth and striped bass have taken to deep water at Lake Mead while rainbow trout fishing has been fair following the weekly plants.

Because of the cold weather, very few anglers have been on the water during the past week. Those who have wetted a line have had limited success for stripers at the tires at Las Vegas Bay Marina, Boxcar Cove, 8.0 Cove and Saddle Cove. Most of the stripers have been ranging from 16 to 18 inches.

Crappie are being caught at night above the Virgin narrows in the Overton Arm. Live minnows and crappie jigs are being used to catch the fish.

Stripers are scarce in the Overton Arm and those that are being caught are very small with most being less than 10 inches.

Largemouth bass are in deep water and a reluctant to bite. Anglers have reported to the Nevada Division of Wildlife that the fish are 35 to 40 feet deep.

Rainbow trout fishing has been good for several days following plants at Willow Beach. The next plant is scheduled for today.
