Lions club honors Wagner
Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2001 | 9:35 a.m.
The Las Vegas Lions Club has named Metro Police Sgt. Tom Wagner its policeman of the year for his efforts in raising money for children's charities.
Wagner founded Police Officers Riding 4 Kids, or P.O.R.K., in 1999 to help fund local children's organizations.
This year, P.O.R.K. reached out to the New York City Police Widows and Orphans Fund by raising money for that organization, police said. P.O.R.K. has raised more than $100,000 for charities since its inception.
Wagner will be honored at an awards presentation at the San Remo at 8 p.m. Thursday.
