Man gunned down in LV tavern
Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001 | 10:43 a.m.
A 52-year-old man was in critical condition this morning after being shot during an apparent robbery at the Lake Mead Tavern in northeast Las Vegas.
Officers were called to the tavern in the 5800 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard near Sloan Lane about 2:30 this morning and found a wounded man on the floor of the empty bar, Metro Police said.
Detectives are still trying to confirm whether robbery was the motive for the shooting. The man, whose name was not released, is believed to be the bartender.
Police found no patrons in the bar when they arrived, but there may have been others in the bar at time of the shooting, police said.
The description of the suspect is a Hispanic man in his late 20s, 5 foot 8 to 5 foot 10, weighing about 175 pounds and wearing a hooded Nike jacket.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
