LV visitor count off in October

Visitor volume to Las Vegas was down 7.9 percent in October from the year-ago month and most tourism indicators were in negative territory in the aftermath of September's terrorist attacks, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported today.
Visitor volume fell from 3.1 million to 2.9 million, convention attendance was off 6 percent to 266,102, occupancy levels were down 9.1 points to 82.6 percent and total room nights occupied were down 8.7 percent to 3.2 million.
The total number of passengers using McCarran International Airport fell 16.3 percent for the month to 2.8 million and gaming revenue for Clark County was off 6.1 percent to $613.3 million.
One category that was up: The number of cars passing through the Yermo, Calif., inspection station increased 6.5 percent to 493,992 for the month.
