John Groom is the new president of the Caesars Palace resort on the Las Vegas Strip, owner Park Place Entertainment Corp. announced Wednesday.
Groom, the former chief executive of Players International, was named interim president of the hotel-casino in early September, following the departure of John Shigley. He had been serving in that role ever since, while Park Place conducted a search for a permanent president.
"(Groom's) extensive gaming experience and expertise will be especially important in building the widely known Caesars brand," said Park Place Chief Operating Officer Wally Barr. "Because John has already been spearheading many new initiatives at our property, his promotion will ensure continuity and strengthen profitability."
