A preview screening of the movie "Ali," starring Will Smith, will be held 5 p.m. Friday at the Palms' Brenden Theatres to benefit the Muhammad Ali Center.
The center, based in Ali's hometown Louisville, Ky., produces public programs, exhibitions, publications and a website in an effort to lead to a more peaceful society. A reception is included in the screening, which will be attended by Ali and his wife, Lonnie. Ticket packages are $100-$25,000.
Similar screenings will be held Monday in Washington, D.C., Wednesday in Louisville and Dec. 20 in Chicago. For more information, call (310) 914-9100.
Two programs planned in Red Rock Canyon
are "Oak Creek Canyon Critters," a moderate two-mile hike Friday for 12-year-olds to adult, and "Predators and Prey," 20-minute ongoing presentations on Mojave Desert animals, 1-3 p.m. Wednesday for all ages. Call 363-1922.
The Jewish Community Center
of Southern Nevada presents the musical ensemble "Jewish Jammin" at 2 p.m. Sunday at D'Vorre and Hal Ober Elementary School, 3035 Desert Marigold Lane. Call 794-0090.
