Mossie D. Burns

Mossie D. Burns, 81, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 31, 1919, in Castor, La. A resident for 32 years, she was a retired hotel guest room attendant, mother and missionary of the Greater New Jerusalem Baptist Church and a volunteer at the Blind Center of Las Vegas.

She is survived by three daughters, Odessa Armstrong, Shirley Sistrunk and Sharon Burns, and five sons, Charles W. Burns, Michael S. Burns, James C. Burns, Leonard H. Burns and Robert L. Burns, all of Las Vegas; 49 grandchildren, 89 great-grandchildren and 35 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 2-7 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be noon Wednesday in Greater New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 1100 N. D St. Burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Peter P. Cappelletti

Peter P. Cappelletti, 78, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 24, 1922, in Chicago. A resident for 15 years, he was a retired owner of a transport and delivery company and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Paula Jaeger of Naperville, Ill., and Carla Pytel of Berwin, Ill.; three sons, Michael Cappelletti of Pacifica, Calif., Joseph Cappelletti of Chicago and John Cappelletti of Las Vegas; two sisters, Clara Decharinte of Oak Park, Ill., and Marge Arito of Bensenville, Ill.; one brother, Michael Cappelletti of Forest Park, Ill.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be in Illinois. Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., is handling arrangements.

Bonnie R. Geil

Bonnie R. Geil, 82, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. A resident for 43 years, she was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Nice, France.

She is survived by her husband, Paul E.; one son, Gerard Rehnborz of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Darlene Amarie Hahn of Camden, N.J.; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Monday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Ronald Harry Kingham

Ronald Harry Kingham, 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 4, 1925, in Detroit. A resident for 19 years, he was a retired paper products industry salesman and an Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lenore A. of Gresham, Ore.; two sons, Alfred A. Kingham of Las Vegas and Christopher Kingham of West Richland, Wash.; two daughters, Victoria Scott of Lake Oswego, Ore., and Katherine Winton of Gresham; one brother, Elmer Kingham of Novi, Mich.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Neptune Society of Nevada, 8570 Del Webb Blvd., is arranging private services.

Karen Lloyd

Karen Lloyd, 61, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. She was born May 30, 1940, in Torrey, Utah. A resident for one year, she was a retired waitress.

She is survived by four daughters, Karen Kay Olson and Pauline Rocha, both of Tucson, Ariz., Connie Kaufmann of Temecula, Calif., and Tina Marsolek of Las Vegas; one son, Viran Wardle of West Valley City, Utah; three brothers; four sisters; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Joe J. Martinez

Joe J. Martinez, 67, of North Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. He was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Taos, N.M. A resident for 10 years, he was a retired technician in a medical lab and an Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Mary S.; and one son, Joe J. Martinez II of Virginia Beach, Va.

Rita Maxey

Rita Maxey, 70, of North Las Vegas died Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born Oct. 8, 1931, in Magnolia, Ark. A resident for 57 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Dink; two sons, Henry E. Young of Berkeley, Calif., and Rouyon Maxey of Las Vegas; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St.

Bill McKee

Bill McKee, 65, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born March 5, 1936, in Colorado Springs, Colo. A resident for eight years, he was a retired aerospace engineer.

He is survived by his wife, Anne; one son, Mark McKee of Las Vegas; one daughter, Lisa Dieckhaus of St. Louis; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Shayde M.T.K. Schwenke

Shayde M.T.K. Schwenke, 3 months, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 6, 2001, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his parents, Vaega and Destiny Schwenke, one brother, Rayne Schwenke, and two sisters, Faith Schwenke and Heaven Schwenke, all of Las Vegas; and his grandparents, Reg and Elizabeth Schwenke of Las Vegas and Darlene Vaai of Hawaii.

Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave., followed by burial in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Myron Stephens

Myron Stephens, 70, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. He was born July 16, 1931, in Utica, N.Y. A resident for 21 years, he retired after 30 years as an Air Force chief master sergeant and Korean War and Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; two daughters, Kacy McKeown and Susan Shields, both of Corona, Calif.; two sons, Shane Stephens and Sean Stephens, both of Las Vegas; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to noon services Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling arrangements.

Rosie Lay Thrower

Rosie Lay Thrower, 90, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born June 6, 1911, in Clarksdale, Miss. A resident for 60 years, she was a licensed missionary and choir member of the Greater New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Troy Simon and Dave Simon Jr., and one daughter, Mary Simon Knight, all of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 1-8 p.m. Tuesday in American Burial and Cremation Services, 310 Foremaster Lane. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in American Burial and Cremation Services. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Vincent M. Venckus

Vincent M. Venckus, 53, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born July 5, 1948, in Chicago. A resident for 23 years, he was a carpenter and a Vietnam War Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Donna; three sons, Vincent Paul Venckus of Chicago and Joseph Venckus and James Venckus, both of Las Vegas; two daughters, Kathy Venckus and Becky Venckus, his mother, Elizabeth Venckus, and one brother, William Venckus, all of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Sharon Hunter of Las Vegas and Susan Reed of Henderson.

Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave., is handling private arrangements.

Harriet Vieyra

Harriet Vieyra, 84, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local health care center. She was born Aug. 12, 1917, in Ohio. A resident for 51 years, she was a retired laboratory technician and a member of Senior Friends.

She is survived by two daughters, Edith Faye Bowler of Las Vegas and Frieda Johnson of Vancouver, Wash.; one son, James Blankenship of Las Vegas; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery, 2697 Eldorado Lane. Burial will follow in Palm Valley View Memorial Park, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Marie Vitale

Marie Vitale, 94, of Las Vegas died Friday. A homemaker, she was born Aug. 6, 1907, in Illinois.

She is survived by one daughter, Ann Marie Vitale of Las Vegas.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Illinois. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Lorena Zile

Lorena Zile, 74, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local health care center. She was born Dec. 3, 1927, in Lyons, Kan. A resident for 44 years, she was a homemaker and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; one son, Joe Zile of Las Vegas; three brothers, Bill Fay of Klamath Falls, Ore., Orlin Fay of Panaca and Ed Fay of Las Vegas; one sister, Doris Vincent of Sterling, Kan.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled 5-7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Buchanan Blvd., Boulder City.
