NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. -- A man who authorities say is a longtime organized crime figure in Pittsburgh was arrested for his alleged part in a large gambling operation in the areas around New Kensington and Arnold.
Gary Golden, 57, was arrested Friday, charged with running the operation and money laundering.
State police say the arrest comes after a two-year investigation.
"Certainly it hurts the crime family in Pittsburgh," said Cmdr. George Bevins of the state police organized crime division.
About 150 video gambling machines and about $100,000 have been seized in connection with the gambling ring, police said.
Police also arrested Duane Guida, 52, of Arnold. Arnold is the chief executive officer of both High Fives Inc. and BALD Inc., which state police say are the same company overseeing several area barrooms.
