Nevadans’ votes
Friday, Dec. 7, 2001 | 11:19 a.m.
Nevada's House members split on the trade vote; Rep. Jim Gibbons, R-Nev., voted for the bill and Rep. Shelley Berkley, D-Nev., voted against it.
Gibbons said lawmaker oversight provisions were included in the final bill, allowing "Congress to participate directly in all trade negotiations, protect our national security interests, and create American jobs."
Berkley supported a Democratic alternative bill that she said was better for organized labor and would have retained more congressional oversight.
