Six golfers tied for lead at Nevada Open

MESQUITE -- Six golf professionals shot a 66 to tie for the lead Wednesday in the first round of the Nevada Open at the Oasis Golf Club and CasaBlanca Golf Club.
The professionals were Garrett Hannig of St. George, Utah; Mark Johnson of Helendale, Calif.; John Graham of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Steve Schneiter of Sandy, Utah; Matt Murray of La Mesa, Calif; and Birk Nelson of Beaverton, Ore.
Four players tied for second position with a score of 67, including Mike Vance of Las Vegas. The Open division consists of a field of 180 pros and amateurs.
Jack Sommers of Ft. Collins, Colo., is the leader in the Senior division with a score of 68. Bob Campbell of Boise, Idaho, is in second position with a score of 70. The Senior division consists of 36 pros.
The Nevada Open is a 54-hole tournament with a cut after the second round. The purse for this year's tournament is $60,000 for the Open division and $11,000 for the Senior division.
