Still no leads in slaying at bar

A 31-year-old woman gunned down last week in a downtown Las Vegas hotel bar had been released from jail just eight days before her slaying, but detectives are still trying to determine a motive for the killing.
Carla A. McCall was sitting on a stool at the small bar at the Nevada Hotel on Main Street and Bridger Avenue Wednesday about 12:30 p.m. when a man walked in, pulled out a gun, shot her in the head and fled, Metro Police said.
"She was definitely targeted, there is little doubt about that," said Lt. Tom Monahan, head of the homicide unit. "We're not sure why she was targeted. We don't know if it had anything to do with a crime or drugs or an old boyfriend."
Like with any homicide investigation, detectives are talking with people who knew McCall to try to find information that leads to her killer, Monahan said.
No suspect has been identified or arrested.
There were several people in the bar at the time of the shooting. The gunman shot at her and then left without firing at other people, police said.
Police are unsure if McCall's past had anything to do with her killing. McCall was released from the Clark County jail Nov. 20 after being arrested on Nov. 9 for failing to appear on a drug possession charge. She had been arrested several times by Metro Police since 1992.
The suspect is described as a white man with gray hair, about 40 years old, about 5 foot 10 and weighing 140 to 150 pounds. He was wearing a dark baseball cap.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Metro's homicide unit at 229-3521 or Secret Witness at 385-5555.
