Service discontinued

Sprint will end its Nevada Locator Service Jan. 1, citing a lack of customers.
The $1.25-per-call service enabled customers to call 567-8787 (LOST R US) to get directions to a specific address or to a generic location, such as to the nearest pizza parlor.
Sprint spokesman Rob McCoy said the service, operated since May 1998, was only getting about 50 calls a day on weekdays and was the least-popular directory assistance service the company operated in Las Vegas.
"It was a pretty simple business decision," said McCoy, who said no one would be put out of work as a result of the cancellation.
McCoy said Sprint's 123 locally based operators handle a variety of directory assistance calls, such as the National Directory Assistance (411), as well as operator-assisted calls.
